Where to ride a scooter?

Electric scooters are already one of the streetscapes of major European cities, and the problems they bring are very similar all over the world. But the riding rules are different in every city.

Scooter riding rules:

n Portugal, a helmet is required. In the Netherlands, electric scooters are similar to mopeds, so a driver’s seat is required. Everyone knows that electric scooters drive standing up, so they do not comply with Dutch traffic rules and cannot be driven on the road.

Only Germany and France have compulsory insurance. In most countries and cities, electric scooters are allowed to ride on sidewalks and bicycle lanes.

If you are going to buy a scooter, you must understand the regulations of your country in advance. For example, Germany requires the scooter to have a license plate.

Regulations applicable to Europe:

In Germany, electric scooters are allowed to drive on motor vehicles and bicycle lanes. Under normal circumstances, they cannot drive on crosswalks. Only under special circumstances are scooters allowed to be used on sidewalks, and there are obvious signs.

Age requirements: 

14 years old and above are allowed to use scooters, but we recommend that it is best for adults to ride electric scooters, without the need for a moped test certificate or cassock license.
